Camel Racing Comes To The United States On July 4

Posted in Camel Racing News

July 4 is a special day in the United States as the federal holiday allows most citizens a day off of work for fireworks, food, family, and at certain racetracks across the states, exotic animal racing. While horse racing may be more popular in the United States, camel racing is king in the Middle East, especially the United Arab Emirates. Prize money for camels who win races can be more than $2 million. Bull camels can even sell for more than $5 million. Prize money isn’t that high even for horses at the majority of local horse racing tracks. The excitement of camel racing will capture American eyes on July 4 at Louisiana Downs, which will host exotic animal races with ostriches and camels racing on the main track between live thoroughbred races. Later in the month of July, camel racing will entertain guests Canterbury Park in Shakopee, Minnesota and at Prairie Meadows in Des Moines, Iowa. While jockeys will ride the camels at the tracks in the U.S., robotic jockeys are used for young camel racing in the UAE. The robotic jockeys have a speaker that allows remote trainers to issue commands, and a small whip is operated by remote control from a car driving alongside the camel. Racing supplements are part of camels racing just as much as horse racing. She has a good body structure, and was a little over three feet [when upright]. She was strong and was already nibbling and trying to nurse within hours of being born,” Veterinarian Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad told the Gulf News. UAE’s camel racing scene has new competition — Arabian horses

While horse racing may be more popular than camel racing in the United States and the Western world, camel racing is king in the Middle East, especially the United Arab Emirates. Prize money for camels who win races can be more than $2 million. Bull camels can even sell for more than $5 million. But recently in the United Arab Emirates, horse racing has been making a slow entrance into a dominated camel-racing scene. Last month, a number of UAE-bred Arabian horses raced down a recycled camel track at the Al Dhafra Festival, according to The National. Arabian horse racing supplements are part of the sport, as much as they are part of camel racing in the UAE and across the globe. Racehorsemeds.com is an international supplier of veterinary products to maintain the health of racing horses and camels and to maximize their performance. Their products are also used extensively with performance animals such as dogs, greyhounds, alpacas and racing pigeons. While there were only 20 horses in the three races for Dh42,000 (just under $12,000) in prize money and a handful of spectators, local government in the Al Dhafra desert towns of Ghayathi and Madinat Zayed are supporting having both horses and camels race. “It’s happening now because our government are encouraging this,” An Arabian horse owner told The National. “Ten years ago, they didn’t have racing and now they give land for it. When Sheikh Hamdan came seven years ago, the first thing he said was, who has horses? “They government says if you have five horses, you can go to the government and get land.” Many horse owners also own and race camels in the United Arab Emirates, which recently opened the world’s first hospital for racing camels. China’s Alxa League becoming hot bed for camel racing

China’s Alxa League becoming hot bed for camel racing

Posted in Camel Racing News

Camel racing may be most popular and lavish in the Middle East, especially the United Arab Emirates, but the sport is quickly growing in another vast desert to the far east. In the Tengger Desert of Alxa League of northern China, there was a massive five-day event featuring over 3,000 camels earlier this month, according to Xinhua News. Activities included a 15-kilometer race, 50-kilometer relay, camel polo games, archery and even a camel beauty contest. Racing supplements are part of the sport, as much as they are part of horse racing. Racehorsemeds.com is an international supplier of veterinary products to maintain the health of your racing animal and to maximize their performance. Their products are also used extensively with performance animals such as dogs, greyhounds, camels, alpacas and racing pigeons. The China region of Alxa League, which borders Mongolia to the north, contains nearly 120,000 camels, more than 20 percent of the country’s total and ranchers have used the animals to their advantage to bring in additional business. Camel-themed activities and Mongolian sports fairs such as the event earlier this month have boosted local tourism in the otherwise quite region of northern China. “More than 10,000 tourists attended the five-day activities,” A director of local tourism told Xinhua News. “It was a miracle, because we had received few tourists in winter.” While the event in China was more or less a local fair, prize money for camel racing in the oil-rich United Arab Emirates can be more than $2 million. One bull camel was sold for more than $9.5 million, CNN reported. Racehorsemeds.com is committed to helping racing animals achieve excellent health and maximum results.
