The horses of the 2018 Kentucky DerbyArguably, the biggest and most important race of all the races, the Kentucky Derby aka “The Run for the Roses” aka “The Most Exciting Two Minutes In Sports” aka “The Fastest Two Minutes in Sports” at Churchill Downs officially began on Tuesday morning. Post positions for all twenty horses, along with morning line odds for the race have been released. It is time to get set for this years 145th running of the 2019 Kentucky Derby, folks.


There’s plenty to look forward to, but with post positions set there’s a ton to speculate on in the meantime. The favorite to win the race, Omaha Beach got a very favorable draw at No. 12.

  • Bob Baffert can tie the record for most career Kentucky Derby wins by a trainer. This year, he has three strong contenders who can win this race.


  • Baffert, who has won five Derbies, one shy of the record set by Ben Jones. He saddles three of the four favorites in the latest 2019 Kentucky Derby odds. Breeders’ Cup Juvenile champ Game Winner (5-1), Arkansas Derby runner-up Improbable (6-1) and Santa Anita Derby winner Roadster (6-1).
  • The 2019 Kentucky Derby favorite is Richard Mandella-trained Omaha Beach, who has won three straight races. Omaha Beach, who will be ridden by Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith.
