The prestigious $20,000 Dave Wood Memorial finale took place recently at the Daytona Beach Racing and Card Club.

The Daytona Beach Racing and Card Club is located just 50 minutes from downtown Orlando and an easy drive from Jacksonville and other major Florida metropolitans.

With almost 70 years of experience, Daytona Beach Racing and Card Club put of a heck of a show capped by the $20,000 Dave Wood Memorial finale.

The dog race was a culmination of elimination races and three rounds of qualifying. An eight greyhound field made up the finale that is named after the longtime track secretary who passed away in 2010.

The 31-second race was won by TNT Roulette, who passed D’s Count and Bob’s Ben in the stretch for the win.

TNT’s come-from-behind win paid $18.80, $6.20 and $4. Second-place finisher Bob’s Ben paid $4.60 and $2.80 and D’s Count paid $3.60 to show.

TNT Roulette is from On A Journey Racing Kennel and is owned by Tom Taplin.

Taplin hails from Abilene, Kansas, a town that is popularly known in racing circles as the Greyhound Capital of the World and has held that title for more than four decades.
